Fitting in at school

Nobody likes the feeling of being excluded, especially at school. Sometimes no matter what you do, it may feel like you just don’t belong. So how does a Christian student fit in at school?

Remember, you were born to honor God. He gives the strength and power it takes, by the Holy Spirit, to live saved and do what’s right even if you’re the only one. Do you believe that? While in school, on the playground, or even at a friend’s house, it is important for you to know that you’re not alone.

Obeying and upholding the Word of God will bring feelings of exclusion when you compare yourself to others. In Romans 12:2, God reminds us not to be like the world, but to be changed in our mind (through God’s Word). The first step is to see this world does not follow God’s standards. It is important to obey God’s standards no matter what non-believers may think about them.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

Students of all ages are able to stand up for God and represent Him the right way. Be a good example this school year. Instead of feeling left out, take action. Speak kind words, say hello to others first, and doing what is right when no one is looking. These are ways to make an impact on those around you. Your reward from God will be so much more than the cost you’ll pay for fitting in.
